Doolandella residents on Brisbane’s southside are elated following news that new traffic lights and safety upgrades will be coming to the dangerous intersection of two busy roads.

Labor Councillor for Forest Lake, Charles Strunk was pleased to announce that new safety traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Blunder Road and Wallaroo Way, Doolandella.

This welcome upgrade comes after a community campaign and petition was launched by Councillor Strunk in consultation with local residents, the Doolandella Neighbourhood Watch and bus drivers and officials from the Queensland Rail and Bus Transport Union (RTBU).

Councillor Strunk said the new traffic signals will allow motorists and bus drivers to feel safer when using this busy intersection.

“I’m pleased common sense has prevailed. I was never going to give up fighting for these lights alongside my community.”

“We all should be able to get home safely” he said.

The works are set to be delivered in the 2023/24 financial year, and Councillor Strunk will follow closely to ensure that local get what they were promised by Council.

“This is a win for the community and commuters” Councillor Strunk said.
