In this latest edition of our series introducing you to the local champions who are running to represent their communities in City Hall next year, we head to Doboy Ward.
Meet Alex Cossu, Labor’s candidate for Doboy.
Alex loves living in the Doboy Ward and is determined to see that residents get the best value for money and services from Council.
Alex, along with his wife and their two pets Buddy the dog, and Kitty the cat love the lifestyle they have found there. He wants to see that for more young people across the city.
The commitment Alex has to serving his community and passion for volunteer work is evident in his partnership with Beddown, a charity that works to help the homeless. Alex has worked alongside Beddown since 2018 and strongly believes that housing is a human right, and that the Council does have a role to play in better supporting the most vulnerable in our community.
His background as a first-generation Italian Australian means he has strong ties to many local multicultural organisations.
The suburbs of Doboy have seen the lack of investment in drainage and flood mitigation infrastructure by the current LNP Administration firsthand with significant flooding a regular occurrence for many locals.
Ratepayers living in Belmont, Camp Hill, Cannon Hill, Carina, Hemmant, Manly West, Murarrie and Tingalpa need a strong voice fighting for them in City Hall. Alex is passionate about ensuring the Doboy Ward is no longer neglected when it comes to funding for suburban drainage, better and safer public transport and more sustainable development.
