Although we feel sorry for our mates in southern states and their current COVID outbreak situation, it has gifted Queenslanders one of the most prized annual sporting events – the NRL Grand Final and Finals Series.

Over the next four weeks, stadiums up and down the Queensland coastline will come alive with footy finals fever.

Games will be played at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, Browne Park in Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast Stadium and Suncorp Stadium.

The Grand Final will be hosted at Suncorp Stadium on October 3 – it’s the first NRL Grand Final in Queensland in the game’s 114 year history.

“This will be an historic moment for the city and a reward for the support the Queensland community has given us throughout 2021,” ARL Chairman Peter V’Landys told NRL.com.

“This year will always be remembered as the year Queensland hosted all of our major events; All Stars, Magic Round, three State of Origins and the grand final.”

Tickets to the grand final will be available for NRL Club Members on Wednesday 15 September and then go on sale to the general public from Thursday 16 September.

“This once in a lifetime final series will inject $19 million into our economy,” said Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

“With a TV audience of over three million viewers in 70 countries, it’s a wonderful opportunity to promote Queensland as the sporting capital of Australia.”
