The Brisbane City Council figures are out for the most sort after pooch by river city residents.

Perhaps to nobody’s surprise, taking out the top spot is the Labrador with nearly 10,000 registered across the city in one month.. yes just ONE MONTH.

Coming in second place was the Maltese, followed by the Border Collie, Staffordshire bull terrier, Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Poodle, Australian kelpie, Golden retriever, Jack Russell terrier and Dachshund.

Overall, dog registrations are up by a few thousand from previous years with around 111,000 dogs being registered in Brisbane each year.

The most puppy loving suburb in the river city is Bracken Ridge with over 2,000 registrations.

Forest Lake came second and The Gap took out third place.
