Getting a fine of any kind can ruin your day instantly.
Parking fines are especially frustrating if stopping in the wrong spot or staying put for too long was an honest mistake.
For fine haters, there’s more bad news.
In Brisbane City Council budget papers it reveals that expected fine revenue will surge to over $48 million this financial year.
That’s an increase of 60% from the previous financial year.

Council Opposition Leader Jared Cassidy (Labor) says this type of fine revenue target setting is not what residents deserve or expect.
“Council officers are working under enormous pressure to meet these obscene targets set by Adrian Schrinner and his LNP Administration,” said Cr Jared Cassidy.
“I’ve heard reports of Council officers even fining people at 2am.”
“We need more emphasis on warning and educating drivers, instead of upfront fines.”
