It’s been the location of multiple crashes and the talk of the locals for years now and everyone agrees, something needs to be done about the Banyo Rail Crossing to make it safer.

Well almost everyone agrees.

The Local State Member Leanne Linard (Labor) has fired off a letter to the Local LNP Councillor Adam Allan questioning why Council hasn’t stumped up the cash for a jointly funded precinct study.

“As you know, last year I secured a $200,000 commitment from the Palaszczuk Government to jointly fund a precinct study at Banyo Rail Crossing. And, as the roads around the station are all under the control of the council, you are aware that the study can only go ahead with an equal commitment from Brisbane City Council, which you have so far not supported.” – Leanne Linard MP.

Residents have previously rejected the proposal for an overpass as it was likely to cause the resumption of homes and loss of the local shopping precinct.

The precinct study would allow residents to have their say on what possible upgrades they want to see at the Banyo Rail Crossing.
