“In Australia, 51,000 women are experiencing homelessness.”

“More than 33,000 are fleeing domestic and family violence.”

“1 in 8 are not online – disconnected digitally and socially.”

These are the cold hard statistics 4 Voices is trying to turn around.

The Brisbane based charity was founded in 2019 by Jo West.

Jo has worked with disadvantage youth and people experiencing homelessness for many years.

“Seeing people whose lives were preoccupied with finding sustenance and shelter to ensure survival was both heart-breaking and life-changing.”

“Her own preoccupation with success and image became ridiculously petty.”

“She wanted to enable girls and women to find the strength to change their destiny, and not let life just “happen” to them.”

The aim of 4 Voices is to reduce social and digital isolation, domestic and family violence and homelessness through the power of connection.

The charity has a Connection Hub which is a van fitted out with phones and computers for women and girls to use.

4 Voices also offers specialised training programs to help people build a CV, apply for jobs and even start their own business.
