Household items are being left on footpath’s across Brisbane suburbs for weeks because of delays to Brisbane City Council’s kerbside collection program.
Residents living in Everton Park and Windsor still had household rubbish waiting to be collected on their footpaths on February 20, despite Council saying it’d be collected from February 10.
Some residents have reported their household items were collected on Thursday 20 February, after the delays were reported in media.

Collection services set to begin from Monday in Morningside, Balmoral and Bulimba so residents there are uncertain if they’d be delayed also.
Council says they’re now working to clear the backlog. They have completed collections in 117 suburbs this financial year to date, with 67 remaining in the schedule for the free annual collection.
Leader of the Opposition, Cr Jared Cassidy said the Lord Mayor has never taken kerbside collection seriously.
“What a kick in the guts for residents in the suburbs who pay their rates.
“Adrian Schrinner cut the service back in 2020 and the people of Brisbane made it loud and clear he’d made the wrong choice. But now it seems he’s under-resourcing this service, so people are still missing out.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if kerbside collection is now falling victim to the LNP Council’s savage cuts to council staff and contractors,” Cr Cassidy said.
