YOUR COMPLETE BRISBANE ST. PATRICK’S DAY GUIDE

With so much going on in the world right now, annual cultural festivities can creep up on you. To save you the time of planning out your weekend, here’s what’s happening this weekend as Brisbane goes green for St. Patrick’s Day.

The Brisbane St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Saturday, March 14, 2026. 10:30AM-11:30AM, Brisbane City

Organised and hosted by the team at Brisbane Irish Festival, this year’s theme is ‘Gaeilge – The Language of Ireland’ (Teanga na hÉireann). Irish is having a renaissance worldwide, in part due to heightened awareness of the dying out of indigenous languages and thanks to pop culture, most notably films such as ‘The Quiet Girl’ and the Irish rap trio KNEECAP who have made headlines for political activism. Additionally, new Irish President Catherine Connelly has moved to make Irish a working language of the presidential office. Parade participants will be vying for the Jan Dooley St. Patrick’s Day Parade Participant Award.

Paddy’s Day Party: Friday, March 13, 2026. From 10AM. 5 Abingdon Street, Woolloongabba.

This one’s for parents and wee ones. Get crafty in preparation for St. Paddy’s Day. Hosted by IASQ – the Irish Australian Support Association of Queensland. For more details and to book, contact IASAQ via the contact details on their website.

Greyhound of a Girl Movie Screening. Five Star Cinemas, Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City. 12PM.

Just after the parade, walk over to Five Star Cinemas on Elizabeth Street for the screening of Greyhound of a Girl – based on a book by Roddy Doyle. When the grandmother of the eleven years old aspiring chef Rose O’Hara suddenly ills, Rose meets the mysterious Anastasia to face the situation. Book tickets here.

St. Patrick’s LONG Wknd at Irish Murphy’s

A huge 3 days of live music and good craic across the two levels & laneway of Irish Murphy’s. Irish dancers, pipe band, and more. This is an official Brisbane Irish Festival event. View the full schedule here.

St. Patrick’s Eve Dinner. March 16, 2026. 6PM-11:59PM. Brisbane City Hall

The St. Patrick’s Eve Dinner returns to Brisbane City Hall in 2026. Hosted by the Queensland Irish Association, the 2026 Dinner will celebrate 128 years of the tradition maintained by the Queensland Irish Association since its foundation in March 1898. These dinners sell out fast, so check with QIA for any last-minute tickets or cancellations. More details here.

St. Patrick’s Day at Gilhooley’s. March 17 – 20, 2026. 11AM-11:59PM. Albert St & Charlotte St, Brisbane City.

Expect traditional Irish fare from the kitchen, flowing beverages, live Irish music, amazing live Irish dancers, and thrilling Irish pipe bands. Don’t miss the chance to toss the leprechaun! Don’t worry, it’s a big doll. Reserve a table here.

QIA St. Patrick’s Lunch. March 17, 2026. 12PM-5PM. Western Districts Rugby Football Club.

On St. Patrick’s Day, Queensland Irish Association will once again host the St. Patrick’s Day Lunch. Great food and drinks available to purchase and a door raffle prize. Irish songs throughout with musician Tom Kimmet and Irish dancing by QIA Dancers. Admission is free. All are welcome. RSVP to Mavis Williams on (07) 3849 8271.

Mass on St. Patrick’s Day. March 17, 2026. 10AM-11AM. Cathedral of St. Stephen, Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City

The Cathedral of St. Steven will host the official St. Patrick’s Day Mass. St. Patrick is the primary patron saint of Ireland, with March 17 being his feast day and supposed day of death. St. Patrick is widely credited as helping to bring Christianity to Ireland, converting the population from pagan to Christian. In the Catholic Church in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation.

Irish History Tour of Ipswich General Cemetery. March 22, 2026. 10AM-12PM.

Queensland Irish Association, in association with Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery and The Haunts of Brisbane, invites you to An Irish History Tour of Ipswich General Cemetery. One of Queensland’s Oldest Cemeteries. On 22 March 2026 at 10am. Suggested cash donation of $10 welcome to our tour guides on the day.

QGFHA Irish Day Festival. March 22, 2026. 11:30AM-6PM. 308 Bowhill Rd, Willawong 4110

If you know AFL, you know of Gaelic Football. If you know hockey, you know about hurling. The Queensland Gaelic Football and Hurling Association is hosting an Irish Day Festival, with tickets just $10.
