From Koala Walks to Live Music, there is something for the whole family and every budget across Brisbane this weekend. Read on for some of our best picks:

 

Community Koala Party – Griffith University EcoCentre, 11 October, 10am-2pm.

Featuring guided walks of Toohey Forest to spot koalas, live entertainment, market stalls, face painting and a variety of food and drink options. Free event hosted by Cr. Steve Griffiths, Griffith University and Toohey Rotary. More details here.

 

Annerley Junction Festival

a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and culture at Annerley Junction Fest, happening Saturday 11 October, 10 AM – 3 PM on Dudley Street East. Expect a lively mix of music, art, markets, fashion, and food—all brought to life by local talent and community spirit.

Stick around for the after-party at The Junction Hotel from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM to keep the good vibes going!

Community Tree Planting – Col Bennett Park, Algester, 11 October from 9am.

Free event hosted by Cr. Emily Kim. Free food from 8 BOFU and coffee from Volunteer Connect. BCC officers will coordinate participants into groups. Bring water and sun protection! Full details here.

 

Bulimba Community Markets – Bulimba Community Centre, 12 October, 8am-1pm

Featuring small artisan businesses, plants, delicious food, fresh produce, coffee, and young designers. On the 2nd Sunday of every month 8am to 1pm at Memorial Park and inside the Bulimba Community Centre. More details here.

 

Welcoming the Babies 2025 – Southwest Suburbs, Durack State School, 11 October 10am-2pm

If you’re a parent of a new child under two and live in Brisbane’s Southwest Suburbs, be quick to register for Welcoming the Babies 2025. Each registered baby will receive:
• A personalised welcome certificate
• A commemorative photo
• A gift bag filled with useful items and information for parents.

Families will also enjoy:
• Free jumping castle, face painting, and sausage sizzle
• Coffee cart
• Information stalls from services such as the Australian Breastfeeding Association, Triple P Parenting, Kidsafe, the Toy Library and more.

Brisbane Roar 25/26 Fan Day, Northern Plaza – Suncorp Stadium, October 11 from 12:30pm

Featuring games and activities for the whole family ahead of the 2025/28 A-League Season. Inflatable field & darts, football ping pong, merch giveaways, and player meet & greets. Free entry!

 

Valley Fiesta 2025, Brunswick Street Mall, 11 October 2025 2pm-10:30pm

Brisbane’s biggest annual party hits the streets of the Valley with three outdoor stages featuring free music supported by the best local acts as well as a packed schedule of events and parties that will electrify the Fortitude Valley precinct.

Brisbane Writers Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse, 9-10 October 2025

Brisbane Writers Festival unveils an exciting new chapter in 2025 with a star-studded program of events from 9–12 October and held for the first time at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

The 2025 program is packed with literary A-listers across more than 100 live events including author talks, conversations, panel discussions and special events. Two hundred artists, half of them from Queensland, form part of the blockbuster line-up of national and international guests. Milton House Pop-Up Bar, Milton House, October 10-12

Milton House Spring Social returns this October, transforming the historic Milton House lawn into a four‑weekend pop‑up bar and springtime festival of food, drinks, music, and sunshine (October 10 – November 2).

Each Friday to Sunday, locals and visitors can relax beneath the jacarandas with craft beer, wine, cocktails, and bites from Brisbane food trucks—all set against the stunning backdrop of one of the city’s oldest heritage homes. Follow the Instagram here.

 

Aviation High School Experience Day, 10am–2pm, Saturday at 67 Widdop St, Clayfield

Aviation High School is throwing open its gates for a one‑day celebration including rocket launches and drone flying to hands‑on flight simulators and live helicopter landings, the event promises sky‑high thrills for all ages.

Meet pilots, engineers, drone operators, and air traffic controllers, while industry heavyweights including Qantas Pilot Academy, Boeing, and Airwork Helicopters showcase pathways into aviation careers.

The annual showcase runs 10am–2pm, Saturday at 67 Widdop St, Clayfield. Food and drinks will be available. Don’t miss your chance to experience the world of aerospace up close.
