The first ever Geebung Street Party will be held on the last Sunday in October in Collings Street, Geebung and there promises to be something for everyone!
The Geebung Street Party is the creation of the local representative, Councillor Jared Cassidy, Bart Mellish MP and Anika Wells MP, but will be a real celebration of the community.
Collings Street will be closed for the day and filled with a real street party atmosphere.
Councillor Cassidy said the community were already very excited about their first ever street party.
“We have worked closely with the Geebung RSL to get this first event off the ground. They have given us their carpark on Collings Street for the day and we will have a road closure, which means we can have rides, entertainment and up to 50 market stalls featuring local businesses and community groups.”
“People tell me they can’t wait to see what’s on offer. I was contacted by someone who had lived in Geebung for the last 30 years and hadn’t seen anything like this.”
The local State Member, Bart Mellish is excited about showcasing local young artists on stage at the Geebung Street Party.
“We have so many talented young artists in our community and I’m really pleased we have been able to include music as part of this great community event. There will be a real mix of local bands, solo artists and community band and other performers.”
“The program will be jam packed all day!”
The Geebung Street Party will also have a Halloween theme this year for families, which is something Federal Member Anika Wells says they will love.
“Given the Geebung Street Party falls so close to Halloween, we decided to have a special activity for those families wishing to dress up. We will have a special Halloween costume parade as part of the program, and some spooky activities for the kids as well.”
“The Geebung Street Party is shaping up to be a great community event in it’s first year with over 50 stalls, food trucks, entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy. There will be rides, with families able to buy tickets on the day as well as lots of other free activities to enjoy.
The event will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Sunday October 29 in Collings Street, Geebung. With the Geebung Train Station next door, public transport will be a great option. There will also be some parking available at Geebung State School close by on Newman Road.
