An upgrade to the Nudgee Recreation Reserve has been on the cards for years.
The project was touted to include shared use sporting fields, fitness equipment, shared paths, a BMX track, a dog off-leash area, improved lighting, a new car park, a new clubhouse and a playground ancillary with picnic shelters and barbecue facilities.
But documents reveal the project is being significant scaled back by the LNP Council administration due to a cost increase in the contract.
The BMX track has been scrapped along with the dog off-leash area, fitness equipment and playground.

The decision to cut key elements of this promised upgrade have been met with serious backlash from the community and opposition councillors.
“The local LNP Councillor Adam Allan was finance chair when this tender was put together and now he’s the city planning chair while this project is being gutted,” – Labor Oppostion Leader Jared Cassidy.
“He was in key roles to deliver for his community on this project and failed miserably,”
“This is just more proof that the LNP Mayor and his administration can’t be trusted to deliver on their promises.”
Northside locals have started a petition in response to the cuts.
“Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Councillor Adam Allan have broken their election promise to residents of Northgate Ward,” the petition reads.
“They have cut the BMX Track, Dog Off-Leash Area, Fitness Path and Playground from the current contract tender for the Nudgee Recreation Reserve District Sports Park Project,”
“Residents therefore call for the immediate reinstatement of the BMX Track, Dog Off-Leash Area, Fitness Path and Playground in the current construction contract.”
