In this latest edition of our series introducing you to the local champions who are running to represent their communities in City Hall next year, we head to the Northgate Ward.

Meet Vicki Ryan, Labor’s candidate for Northgate

Vicki is raising her young family in Northgate and knows the area incredibly well, having lived there her whole life.

As a hard-working volunteer Vicki has joined with numerous school, community and sporting clubs including the Banyo Kindy as it’s President, St Pius School P&F, the Executive of the Banyo and District Community Committee as Treasurer as well as the Junior Committee of Toombul Cricket.

The suburbs of Northgate deserve a representative that will listen, and work with them to deliver the best outcomes, more and better infrastructure and to protect green spaces and the environment.

The people of Nudgee Beach, Nudgee, Banyo, Northgate, Virginia, Nundah, Wavell Heights, Kedron and Chermside are seeing no value for money when it comes to their rates and Vicki is committed to changing that.

As a local, Vicki understands the importance of working together with both the State and Federal Members of Parliament to ensure that any redevelopment of the old Toombul Shopping Centre site is fit for purpose and delivers what the community wants.

Having lived her whole life in the area, Vicki has seen many changes but can’t help but think the current local Councillor and the LNP Administration have their priorities wrong and have forgotten about the outer suburbs of the city.

Using the strong connections she has made in her volunteering and community work, Vicki is keen to see Northgate get its fair share again.
