LORD MAYOR ANNOUNCES CIVIC CABINET RESHUFFLE

Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has announced a reshuffle of Civic Cabinet at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

In response to a Question without notice during Question Time in Tuesday’s fiery Council meeting, the Lord Mayor announced Cr. Sarah Hutton (Jamboree) will be the Chair for a new customer service portfolio.

The Lord Mayor has previously told media that Council should primarily be focused on infrastructure, not on service delivery.

He also announced further changes to his team, including:

  • Ryan Murphy (Chandler) removed from Transport and reassigned to City Standards & Infrastructure.
  • Andrew Wines (Enoggera) removed from Infrastructure and reassigned to Transport.
  • Tracy Davis (McDowall) absorbing Waste into her existing portfolio of Environment, Parks and Sustainability.

The Civic Cabinet before the changes were made.

The Lord Mayor further detailed that buses, ferries and the Brisbane Metro will move to Transport under Cr. Wines (Enoggera) and “active transport” – footpaths and bikeways, will now be considered in the infrastructure portfolio under Cr. Murphy.

The announcement comes on the same day that News Corp papers reported on widespread angst on social media from the community on the bus network changes.

Leader of the Brisbane Labor Opposition, Cr. Jared Cassidy (Deagon), claimed on X that the reshuffle was “another cut-and-run mess from Team Schrinner”.

“The fish rots from the head down, but the heads are still there. If you have underperforming council chairs, you sack them – not give them something else to make a mess of,” Cr Cassidy said.

Councillor Sandy Landers will remain the Chair of Council, and Councillor Steven Huang will remain the Deputy Chair of Council.
