KING GEORGE SQUARE STATION GETS A NEW NAME

Brisbane’s bus network will get a shake up at the end of the month, with the official opening of Brisbane Metro.

The changes include the name of King George Square station, which will become City Hall station from January 28. The change will be gradual, retaining both names for the initial period.

Brisbane City Council claims the change better reflects the station’s proximity to the key Brisbane landmark, City Hall, and is aligned with the naming conventions of other Australian and international metropolitan cities.

The M2 Metro Route will launch on January 28, replacing route 66.

The complete Metro roll out will be staggered until late 2025 following infrastructure delays and cost blow outs.
