This year over 4,000 bags are being packed full of essential items to help women, teenage girls and babies in need.
It’s in the Bag is an initiative by Share the Dignity – a women’s charity in Australia that “works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence or doing it tough”.
“We distribute period products to women, girls, and anyone who menstruates who needs support.” – Share the Dignity
“When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.”
The bag packing took over two weeks with 2,500 teen bags, 500 mums and bubs bags and 1,000 adult bags.
Each bag will contain essential hygiene products and other tailored items to women at various stages of life.
Since 2015 the charity has collected over 600,000 It’s in the Bag donations, installed 250 PinkBox Vending Machines which dispense free period packs, and gathered an army of over 5500 volunteers.
