FREE DOG TRAINING FOR BRISBANE RESIDENTS

Brisbane dog owners are being offered free training to help their animals avoid harming local wildlife.

Griffith University, in partnership with the Brisbane City Council, has introduced a new dog training initiative aimed at teaching dogs an essential command: “Leave It.”

The program is the perfect opportunity to give your dog the skills to avoid harming local wildlife. The “Leave It” command is a crucial skill for dogs, helping them to stay safe by ignoring things that could be dangerous, like food scraps, sharp objects, or even other animals.

The training program is part of a broader effort to promote responsible pet ownership across Brisbane and reduce incidents involving dogs getting into trouble during their outings.

Griffith University’s animal behaviour experts have developed the training methods used in the program, ensuring they are effective and easy for dog owners to implement. Brisbane City Council is supporting the initiative by offering free workshops in local parks, where dog owners can bring their pets to learn and practice the “Leave It” command under the guidance of professional trainers.

The sessions are perfect for anyone who wants to bond with their furry friend while learning some practical tips from experts. And guess what? They’re free! Just make sure to register in advance.
