To aid with the flood clean-up, the LNP-run Brisbane City Council has set up a number of temporary tip sites.

But the location of some of those sites has residents furious.

One such site is located in parkland beside the Darra BMX facility on Monier Road.

Locals have taken to Facebook to voice their concerns.

“After the 2011 floods the Council decided to dump all flooded debris behind our house (at this same site). All my family suffered a terrible respiratory illness,” one resident wrote.

Another commented “We live along that boundary too. Unbelievably angry that they’ve turned our lovely park into a cesspit. My husband has serious breathing issues and this is not going to help.”

Council’s Labor Opposition Leader Jared Cassidy has echoed residents’ concerns.

“It’s not okay that the LNP Mayor Adrian Schrinner and local LNP Councillor Sarah Hutton chose this site to dump flood waste,” Cr Cassidy said.

“Flood waste should not be on parkland so close to homes and family facilities.

“Cr Hutton is part of ‘Team Schrinner’, she needs to pick up the phone and call the Lord Mayor and demand this waste be removed.”
