Uncle Lewis Orcher Place Naming and Playground Upgrade
The playground project at the popular O’Callaghan Park is now complete.
Importantly, the feedback of the community was sought before work commenced and it’s terrific to see that reflected in the final project.
This is a favourite space for families in Zillmere and the modern equipment will ensure locals have a safer and more enjoyable area to use.
The new space will also be officially known as Uncle Lewis Orcher Place.
As a long-term local resident and respected Elder, Uncle Lewis has a strong connection to O’Callaghan Park and the nearby Zillmere PCYC becoming a vital park of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth Justice program.
Uncle Lewis was a fierce advocate, compassionate elder and a real friend for so many on the northside.
To honour his contribution and celebrate the naming, an official opening of the playground will be held on Wednesday July 12 at 10.00am. We’d love to see you there!
