Residents of Toowong and surrounding suburbs are being urged to have their say as community consultation on a landmark new development proposal opens.
The project is set to be the biggest ever in Toowong’s history, including three towers up to 58 levels high.
Despite the developer urging Council to push back consultation to mid-2026, Council have decided to open it up weeks before Christmas.
Due to the huge community interest and the scale of the plans, Council ordered “upfront’’ public notification last month.
Last month, BCC wrote to the developer stating: “The proposed building heights of 49, 55 and 58 storeys are a departure from the heights anticipated for the site under the City Plan,’’
“Given the significance of the proposed development, council wishes to obtain community feedback prior to progressing the application further.
“Accordingly, council does not intend to issue an information request. Please proceed to public notification.’’

While local LNP Councillor Penny Wolff has expressed reservations about the project based on its size, Labor Opposition Leader in Council, Jared Cassidy, said that a positive development can be achieved if the community puts pressure on Council and the developer.
“We’re in a housing crisis but we can’t let property developers exploit it to maximise profits. Left alone, this development will build hundreds of luxury apartments that only the very well off can afford, pushing locals out of their home city.”
“So long as the community calls for the inclusion of genuinely affordable housing, open green space, public amenities and high frequency public transport, this derelict site can be transformed into something special.”
Earlier this month, the Courier Mail reported that Town Planner Urbis asked council for an extension on the normal “currency’’ period, claiming that a decade may be needed for construction due to its size.
Consultation will close on the 8th of December.
