The green light has been given to two exciting new developments in Wynnum West.

The first is a new child care centre, set to be built near the Stradbroke Avenue entrance to Wynnum State School.

The facility is expected to cater for up to 152 children.

The second development application approved is for a housing development at 420 Kianawah Road.

Currently, it’s a vacant block of land but local Councillor Peter Cumming says it will soon be transformed into more than 30 blocks, some almost double the average land size, giving new residents plenty of space to raise a family.

“This site will consist of 31 blocks ranging from 405m² to 725m², the average house block size is around 475m²,” Cr Cumming said.

An application will also soon be lodged for an extension of the existing nursing home on Wynnum North Road.

Approval could mean an additional 150 beds for aging residents.

In addition to the development approvals and application, Council is also building up its bank of bushland in the area.

Around 14 acres are listed for purchasing in Wynnum West.
