In this latest edition of our introduction to the hard working local champions who want to represent you at the 2024 Brisbane City Council election, we’re heading to the southern parts of the city, to the Calamvale Ward.
Meet Emily Kim, Labor’s Candidate for Calamvale

Emily loves being part of the Calamvale community and has been incredibly busy talking to locals about what they need from Brisbane City Council.
Having grown up in the area, Emily is a born and bred local who cares deeply about her community. This shows in her work with her local Church over many years, as well as her extensive volunteering with the Calamvale Lions Club.
This hard work in her local area has already seen Emily achieve a number of great outcomes, including leading a successful campaign for a bus stop to help older residents of Stretton Gardens get around faster and safer, and work to introduce traffic calming in suburban streets after calls from residents were ignored.
Having seen the neglect from the current Councillor in the suburb’s streets of Algester, Calamvale, Drewvale, Heathwood, Karawatha, Larapinta, Pallara, Parkinson, and parts of Forest Lake, Emily could not stand by and see them miss out any longer.
Making sure that Calamvale residents get better value for money from Brisbane City Council is so important for Emily. Her enthusiasm for and dedication to the Calamvale Ward are refreshing, and she will bring a new energy and fresh ideas to City Hall in 2024.
